TupperApps - Mobile Application Implementation

Served as the Local Project Manager for the implementation of a Java-based Mobile Sales Application developed by a vendor in Mexico and aligned with Tupperware Global Mobile Application Standards. The project was delivered within approximately four months and aimed to provide sales force members with a modern mobile channel for product browsing, order placement, and sales activities. The solution was integrated with the existing Distributor Management System (DIMAS) to enable real-time transaction processing and centralized product management. As the local project lead, I coordinated business stakeholders, regional teams, and the offshore development vendor to ensure successful delivery despite geographical, language, and time zone challenges.

The Challenge

The project required seamless integration between the mobile platform and existing enterprise systems while maintaining a high-quality user experience.

Key challenges included:

  • Ensuring sales transactions created through the mobile application were accurately and reliably transferred into the Distributor Management System.
  • Synchronizing product information from central systems to the mobile application, including:
    • Product images
    • Item codes
    • Product descriptions
    • Pricing information
    • Product validity periods
  • Ensuring the application correctly differentiated between regular products and promotional products, each displayed under separate business categories and menus.
  • Managing application performance and response times while core systems and servers were hosted outside the Indonesia region.
  • Coordinating project execution across different time zones between Indonesia and Mexico.
  • Managing communication challenges arising from language differences and geographically distributed teams.
  • Ensuring compliance with Tupperware Global mobile application standards and governance requirements.
  • Delivering the project within a compressed implementation timeline of approximately four months.

Strategic Solution

A structured project management and integration approach was implemented to ensure successful delivery.

Key initiatives included:

  • Led local project planning, stakeholder management, and coordination between business users, IT teams, regional stakeholders, and the Mexico-based development vendor.
  • Defined and validated integration requirements between the mobile application and the Distributor Management System.
  • Established data synchronization processes to ensure product information remained accurate and up to date across platforms.
  • Coordinated testing of product master synchronization, including images, item attributes, pricing, promotional information, and product validity periods.
  • Implemented validation controls to ensure accurate categorization and presentation of regular and promotional products within the application.
  • Managed end-to-end testing of transaction processing to ensure orders created via mobile devices were successfully reflected in backend systems.
  • Facilitated structured communication and issue resolution processes to address time zone and language barriers effectively.
  • Coordinated performance testing and optimization activities to mitigate latency issues associated with cloud infrastructure hosted outside Indonesia.
  • Ensured compliance with Tupperware Global standards while accommodating local business requirements.
